Public Input

Public input is important in the development of an effective management strategy for the Karner blue butterfly. In February 2004, a 60-day comment period was announced to gather comments on management alternatives. A Comment Sheet was devised to provide a medium for commenting. This sheet was effective in carrying some of the comments which were taken into consideration during the development of management alternatives. Department responses to the public comments can be found in the Public Review Draft of the HCP.

The initial comment period has been concluded, however a new commment sheet has been made available for the public to comment on the management of the Karner blue any time they see fit.

How do I effectively communicate my opinions on the HCP?

1. Send an email to lergj@michigan.gov, or
2. Send the comment sheet to John Lerg by conventional mail.

   To send comments by conventional mail:

   1. Download the public comment sheet using the "Public Comment Sheet" link above
   2. Print the public comment sheet
   3. Write your comments on it
   4. Mail it to the address that is provided on the sheet
