Critical Thinking Exercises

Mrs. Smith has been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA).  Her initial treatment regimen of aspirin, rest, exercise, and physical therapy succeeded in partially relieving the acute manifestations of rheumatoid arthritis in Mrs. Smith.  However, complete remission has not been achieved.

She has had difficulty scheduling rest periods at work and has had to struggle to delegate household tasks. “I don’t look sick to the kids, and they seem to think housecleaning is a terrible imposition of their time.  Sometimes, it’s just easier to just do it myself than to fight about it.”

Mrs. Smith faithfully takes her medications and follows her exercise routine.  She states she has to keep going because she is currently supporting the family as her husband has been unable to find work and she’s worried that he’s starting to become depressed.
