Kate Porter
Dream Journal (excerpt)

We were taking care of an exchange family and some guys that were bad came and tried to shoot everyone. So then after the bad guys were gone the little boy from the family drove over to where his dad worked and found out that he wanted to be a cosmetologist. Then we were in my friend’s backyard and the family was getting ready for a trip. This bad guy came with a little girl and I grabbed her but the bad guy grabbed the little girl from the family. I tried to grab her from the bad guy but when I couldn’t grab her I yelled, “God loves you.” Then all my friends came over and we started to hike in my friend Nora’s backyard. We went by a fence tat connected with another fence. On one side there was a dog. My mom helped us get across the fences. We started to walk through a field and we had snowsuits on. It was dark but there was a soccer game going on and someone asked if we wanted to help with the concession stand. There was a dog walking around the field with a balloon tied to his nose. Then we all lied down on the field because the snow had melted.

I was playing this game. You had four dice. Two of the dice were your own and two belonged to the game. You would roll the dice and the amount that came up would be the time in seconds that you had to catch a crocodile. If you rolled one of the game dice they didn’t count. So you had to keep track of your dice because if you rolled two dice, one of which belonged to the game, you would only have one dice that worked. Therefore you would have less time to catch the crocodile.
