Lindsay Porter
Dream Journal (excerpt)

I was back in high school and I was supposed to be reading a book for my novels class and I guess I hadn’t and was worried about the test so I rented the movie. I was watching it in a small room by myself and I knew that as I was watching it, the scenes on the screen were actually happening outside. It was raining and it was very barren and gray. I saw people running all over in mass chaos and screaming while they were collapsing to the ground. The rain was ripping their skin off and melting their faces. I got up and ran outside and knew that I was the only one left. I looked straight ahead and saw my best friend of 16 years curled up in the fetal position with her back facing me. I started screaming and crying and running toward her. As I got closer she popped up with ease and said, “Did you think I was going down without you?”

The best dream I have ever had was where I was walking down a hill in the woods that lead down to a lake. There was a wooden dock jutting out into the water and there was a line of people waiting patiently single file. I walked down on to the dock and waited my turn. When I got to the front at the end of the dock, I stepped down into the water and stood face to face with this beautiful woman whose physical attributes were all golden beige and her hair was long and sparkling. Her clothes were made of skins and I knew her as the Shaman. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. We were waist deep in the water yet I felt nothing. She told me to look out over the water. I looked to my left and it was all made clear to me. She had shown me the entire process of reincarnation. You waited on the dock and when it was your turn you stepped into the water and submerged yourself. Then you would reemerge further out in the water and float off to your new destination. The water changed you and she was there to guide you along.
