She knew tomorrow would come and she would forget the
past day’s events as if the hemorrhaging she experienced
was actually a swollen blood vessel in the temporal lobe.
The disease thought to be only a natural cycle of life was
indeed the result of a terrible and tragic car accident
that left the girl with permanent damage to her short-term
memory. Everyday after the life-changing event she would
have to be reminded of her life and the people most loved
by her. After this tragic event a man would be brought into
her life to attempt to manipulate her memory. Henry would
show the girl a video of the accident and reintroduce her
to the people that have been taking care of her for the
past year. The overwhelming amount of love she is able to
experience daily is a feeling so fresh it is like having
a first kiss 365 days of the year. And upon each first kiss
the sun set only to give light to a new day, birthing a
clean slate for the two to spend a lifetime falling in love.
Suddenly, the girl began to question the sincerity of the
love she felt from Henry after what felt like a lifetime
of first kisses. She began to realize changes in her relations
with this man. The girl felt a fear come over her that her
beloved had created the damage to her brain as if he had
a way into her mind like a secret window. It was an experience
one could only have if schizophrenic. She began to take
notice of his violent nature and the references he made
to her about his alternate personality, which he called
Shooter. Here memories that had suffered such loss came
back to her as she realized he was the assailant. Shooter
was a hybrid unconsciousness with mastery of manipulation
and deception. She came to visit him up at the summer cottage
deep in the woods off a peaceful flowing river one mid-summer
day only to fine a homicidal plot formed against her. As
the world around her went silent and all visual awareness
blackened, the girl re-entered a repressed place in her
mind for the next few days…. |
