Quality instruction for boys and girls ages 4 and up are offered several times during the year.            Elementary Age Classes:  For boys and girls entering first grade or higher next fall.
Beginners:   Our emphasis is on a proper and positive introduction to the fun of swimming.  Students will work on learning basic strokes on their front and back, learning breathing techniques and individual safety skills.  Skills are similar to Red Cross levels I, II, II.
Stroke Development:   Students must be able to swim one length of the pool (25 yards) on their front and one length of the pool on their back.  Depending upon ability, work will include learning proper breathing patterns, improving their freestyle and back strokes as well as learning other new strokes (elementary backstroke, breast stroke, side stroke, butterfly).  Skills are similar to Red Cross levels IV through VII.
Kindergartens Lessons: Minimum age is 4 years old!  Children must demonstrate an ability to work in small group situations (taking turns and following directions).  Class is divided by demonstrated ability and work in very small groups on appreciate skills.   Based upon a child's ability, class work ranges from basic water adjustment skills to advanced work on swimming on their front and back.

Instructors:  During their thirty years of teaching experience, Dewey and Lanna Newsome have developed the philosophy that learning occurs faster when the environment is a positive and fun one.  We encourage each of our instructors to be creative in their teaching methods.  We emphasize each individual  is unique and we work with each instructor to help them understand that they are teaching Children before skills.

       Springboard Diving Lessons

       Springboard Diving Lessons:

  • Learn to Dive, Flip, and Twist.  Diving off the springboard can be one of the most graceful sports a person can do.  Getting the board to lift you up to the perfect height, going in the water at just the right distance from the end of the board and entering the water without a splash!  By using the diving board, the trampoline and working on deck, we will teach you how to work toward the perfect dive.  We teach the basic techniques first and work up to the more difficult dives as we go along.

  • Class are open for ages 7 and up (must be comfortable in deep water).   All ability levels are welcome.  There are 2 sessions offered in the summer (dates to be announced).

    Junior Swim Team:
All boys and girls age 7-13 who can swim 25 yards nonstop (1 length of the pool).  Meets Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (6:00-700 pm)  for 4 weeks during summer. Times may be adjusted based on number and ages enrolled.
