Criteria for Discussion Forum Grades

A = A complete response that reflects a careful reading of the work and the class discussion (if there was one before the forum). Information is accurate and response shows deep insight. Original ideas that reflect sound critical thinking skills and the discussion in class (if there was one before the forum) and exhibits a profound understanding of the work and the question under discussion with expressed or implied examples from the work to clarify meaning and support argument.  Conclusions and/or opinions are logical.

B = A complete response the reflects the work and the class discussion (if there was one before the forum). Indicates a careful reading of the work and the question under discussion but answer does not exhibit a very profound understanding of the work and/or the question under discussion, not often going beyond generalizations and/or not beyond the class discussion with few examples to support argument. The Answer is more lengthy than concise.

C = Partial response that in part reflects a careful reading of the work and  the class discussion (if there was one before the forum). Exhibits a partial or superficial understanding of the work and the question under discussion. Information provided is generally accurate but no insight is offered If a conlcsion is offered, there are problems with accuracy and logic. No examples are offered to support argument.

D = Incomplete response that only minimally reflects a reading of the work and the class discussion (if there was one before the forum) or only focuses on tangential aspects of the work and the question under discussion and no insights are offered. Lacks enough information to determine an understanding of the work or the question. If a conclusion is provided, indicates problems with accuracy and logic. Does not directly answer the question.

F = Response does not reflect neither class discussion (if there was one before the forum) nor a minimum comprehension of the work or question under discussion.
