Discussion Guide for Song of the Cid:

1. The Song of the Cid has been noted both for its realism and idealism:

a. What are examples of realism in the work?

 

b. How is it idealistic, particularly in its portrayal of the Cid as hero? What kind of epic hero is the Cid?
