The photos below show an exposure of the coal horizon overlain by sandstone in a small gully near the south wall of the quarry. This coal bed overlies the sandstones observed at station GL2. Velbel and Brandt (1989) indicate that the coal horizon observed in the southern part of the Grand Ledge Clay Products quarry correlates with the coal seen at station GL1.
